I think there would be a difference between friends, *friends*, and ... a couple? As in, friends who don't do more than hands holding and hugs, friends who do do more than hands holding and hugs, and then people who want to be together with each other primarily and not so much with other people regularly? At least that is my understanding.
And yeah, how much you worry would make a difference. But mostly, what happens after, and what you want or don't want to happen after, would make a difference.
