I think his peers of the LanlingJin Sect envied his future authority. From what I have seen.

But now that he has started coming out to night hunts, it's been better.

Jin Zixuan sighs thinking about it. It's not Jin Ling's fault that he was born who he is. He shouldn't have to worry about anything, least of all petty jealousy. Those people are at fault for being unwilling to accept their roles, not Jin Ling for simply waiting to inherit his own.

...Then again, it isn't as if Jin Zixuan himself has had a great many friends. It's difficult in his position, knowing he'll have to keep himself separated from others, politically and personally. Friendship isn't something that comes naturally, nor is it always the wisest course of action, not when you're a Jin and your position is automatically lofty by virtue of being wealthy and powerful. Make the wrong kind of friends and you could find a sword in your gut the next morning.

He really hopes Jin Ling doesn't have to live in that kind of fear, though.
